Fusion Growth Labs Expands into MENA with Smileyscope & King’s College Hospital Dubai

BRISBANE – Fusion Growth Labs is pleased to announce the successful deployment of a leading Australian health technology, Smileyscope, into the MENA region through its Fusion Landing Pads initiative. This marks a significant milestone in the commercialisation of Australian innovation into high-growth global healthcare markets.

Smileyscope, led by CEO Dr Evelyn Chan, is a pioneering digital therapeutics company transforming paediatric pain and anxiety management through immersive virtual reality. Fusion facilitated Smileyscope’s first regional validation through a pilot with King’s College Hospital Dubai, one of the UAE’s most respected private healthcare institutions.

“This marks a pivotal step in our mission to transform paediatric care globally. Working with King’s College Hospital Dubai gives us not only a trusted clinical partner, but a gateway to expand Smileyscope’s impact across the MENA region. We’re grateful to Fusion Growth Labs for making this a reality.”

This collaboration was led on the ground by Sandip Kumar, Chief Digital and Innovation Officer at King’s College Hospital, who has been instrumental in driving clinical innovation and digital adoption across the region. “Smileyscope’s approach to immersive therapeutic care aligns perfectly with our vision for digitally enabled health. At King’s, we are committed to reimagining the patient experience through innovation.”

“Deploying an Australian medtech innovation into a leading MENA hospital is a powerful example of what our Landing Pads are designed to achieve, direct, clinical validation with trusted institutional partners,” said James Skinner, Director at Fusion Growth Labs. “It’s also a meaningful signal to the broader market that the Gulf is not just open to innovation, but eager to lead in its adoption.”

Through this initiative, Smileyscope gains access to a dynamic and strategically important healthcare ecosystem, while King’s College Hospital Dubai positions itself at the forefront of digital patient care experiences.

This engagement is the first of several planned medtech and digital health activations across the Gulf region supported by Fusion Growth Labs’ network of government, healthcare and investor partners.
