Fusion Growth Labs Announces Strategic Partnership with Torus to Back High-Impact Australian Startups
Brisbane, Australia – 9th July 2025
Fusion Growth Labs is pleased to announce a strategic investment partnership with venture capital firm Torus, marking a significant milestone in the platform’s mission to commercialise validated industry problems through venture creation.
Under the partnership, Torus will serve as an investment partner across Fusion’s sector-specific Growth Labs, providing capital and strategic support to early-stage ventures emerging from the program. Torus joins an established network of founders, industry leaders, universities, and government partners aligned around a shared goal: building commercially viable, globally scalable companies out of Australia.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Torus as a capital partner in Fusion Growth Labs,” said James Skinner, co-founder of Fusion. “Their track record of backing visionary founders and their deep alignment with our industry-led model makes them an ideal partner as we expand across sectors like cyber, space, defence, and deep tech.”
Founded by Jason Atkins and the team behind Cake Equity, Torus brings a unique founder-first ethos and deep experience in early-stage venture investing. The firm is focused on backing Australian entrepreneurs solving meaningful global problems, with a strong emphasis on scalable, capital-efficient growth models.
“At Torus, we believe the next wave of great companies will emerge from platforms like Fusion, where ideas are born out of real-world problems and supported from day one by customers, capital, and talent,” said Atkins. “We’re excited to help fund and accelerate the ventures coming through this system.”
The partnership will see Torus participate in investment rounds and actively support ventures during and after the Growth Lab process, helping bridge the gap between ideation, validation, and capital readiness.
